  • Established in 2025 in memory of the legendary college football coach Bob “Wags” Wagner, Wittenberg class of 1969, this award is given annually to one student-athlete and one graduate assistant, who reflect the values of Coach Wagner and his commitment to social justice, racial equity, and community engagement. Those nominated must meet the following criteria:

    • Demonstrated action and engagement in social justice and racial equity efforts within their team, across campus, and/or in the extended community of Springfield.
    • Possessing the qualities associated with Bob Wagner, including self­-discipline, teamwork, cooperation, hard work, self-confidence, pride in accomplishment, competitive spirit, and the ability to deal with adversity.
    • Be in good academic standing at Wittenberg University.

    To nominate an individual, please complete the following:

  • Thank you for submitting a nomination for the Bob Wagner Award for Social Justice. The winner will be announced during the Ezry Awards held in early May each year and hosted by the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The recipient(s) will then be invited to attend the annual Athletics Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony during Homecoming, Family, and Reunion Weekend in the fall. Additionally, the winner’s name will appear on a special recognition area in the Legends Lobby of the Health, Wellness, and Athletics Complex on the Wittenberg University campus.
